Summer Reading.

It is summer; therefore, I am going to read for pleasure. I went to the library today. Oh my. If I could have had two weeks to be there. I love books. Their smell, feel, hardback, paperback, crisp pages, and my library card all bring me joy during the summer. I'm gonna open my first book of the summer after I finish watching this episode of Scandal.

Monday Mingling and Memorial Day.

Southern Sunflowers and Coffee Beans
New at this mingling thing.
Happy Memorial Day Monday!
This is a great day to celebrate and remember all those fighting, have fought, and have died defending our freedom and our country. I know all too well some of the men and women who were in our Armed Forces. Last summer I work at a VA. That is a hospital specifically designed for the retired military and veterans who need medical care or housing. I was placed on two wards of vets. I helped feed, change, bathe, and talk to over thirty veterans everyday. It was a great opportunity to both serve those who served for us and utilize some of my training in nursing school. I am very greatful to the men and women who risk their lives for our safety day in and day out. I am proud to say that my dad was in the Navy and my grandfather was in the Air Force. Neither of them saw combat, but it was their actions that still kept up safe.

I hope you all are thankful for what the military does for us, and you might be in the military yourself. So, thank you for your service in the United States Military whether it be the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or the National Guard.

Have a  great day everyone!

Currently, vol. 14

Hey everyone out there in cyber world. I am typing this at 10:45 pm on Sunday night while attempting to keep my eyes from closing. This has been an insane week. I have worked 29 hours in 3 days at Panera, and I still have a 9 hour shift on Tuesday. I really have an urge to just write a post about working at Panera. We get the craziest customers who eventually ask what a bread bowl is. Excuse me? How doesn't that make sense? I am looking forward to having the day off of work tomorrow; since, I am going on a date.

Pretty tulips in my front yard.

The sunset leaving work!

The drive-in in WI we went to last night.
They played Fast 6 and Hangover 3.
We didn't get home till 2 am!

reading nothing sadly. I really want to crack open a book for fun reading before the stress of nursing school begins in August.
writing and creating a new resume. I have a dinky little one from high school that is very outdated.
listening to my two dogs snoring.
thinking about the scholarships I need to be working on, but I am watching Harry Potter instead.
smelling nothing?
wishing that I won that 600 million dollar lottery last week!
hoping to finish the jewelry box that I am painting ombre pink.
wearing a pcb t-shirt and sweats with my hair in a bun and smeared makeup from my nap. lol
loving how the sun is setting way later now. It makes me so happy.
wanting to have a peaceful night's sleep.
needing to remember to set my alarm Tuesday to go to work. Having this day off tomorrow might be a bad idea.
feeling stressed financially.(again same from last week)
clicking the resume button on Harry Potter.

Good night and have a great week!

Summer break has begun!

After 17 weeks of torture, I am glad to say that the semester is complete. It has been a gruelling semester, but now I am just awaiting my final grades to be posted. I am nervous because I know I could have pushed myself harder, but being a commuter instead of living on campus really took a toll on my ability to dedicate enough time to my studies. I might finally have the combination down of what is appropriate for relaxing, studying, and visiting with family. I think the biggest thing I need to learn is to say no to a family dinner or playing with the kids when they come over.

What am I looking forward too...
-Unpacking, cleaning, and possibly painting my room.
-Socializing
-Working at Panera eventually
-Getting a second job or babysitting
-Getting my acceptance letter to the nursing program

So much to do in so little time. I guess I'll begin with tackling this...

Happy Friday!

Happy 21st Birthday Lori!!!!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Lori,
Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!!

Lori May, today you turn twenty-one! I think this is crazy. You are the first in my friend group, and I am so excited for you. I have known you for two whole years now, and I am so glad that you are one of my dearest friends. Here are a few reasons why:

You give the best hugs IN the world.
You have the funniest voices and lion cub roars.
You share my addictions to coffee and donuts.
You and I are experts at pinteresting-on-the-go.
You have the cutest laugh.
We have the exact same dream wedding!
And you are just stinkin' awesome.

I can't wait to see God has in store for you over the next year. You are going to have an amazing summer/tan, you get to finish a college degree, and (crossing my fingers) you are going to get a job being a fantastic teacher. So much greatness will happen for you this year, and I am proud to say I will get to see this go down first hand (or at least hear about it). I love you so much, and I miss you already even though it has been not even 8 hours (excluding your time change). I hope you have a fantastic day, and I can't wait to see you in August.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORI!
Can we go camping already?

BRB... it's finals week.

I will be back to blogging hopefully by friday at the earliest. This is, for those of you that don't go to my college, finals week for me. I took one exam today, and I definitely underestimated it. I am preparing for my two on Wednesday for obviously the next two days. After that, I just have a paper due electronically at 11 AM on Tuesday. Otherwise my semester is over, and this is both a good thing and a bad thing. More to come, but for now I am making a bazillion flashcards for microbiology. Happy Studying TCC! (and everyone else is school).

Currently, vol. 12

It's been a lazy weekend, and I am loving it. I woke up early without an alarm, and it didn't bother me one bit. I am very excited to be entering the last week of class, and I am getting antsy. Plus the weather is just gorgeous! It's in the low seventies this week, and I can't be happier.
I even got to hang with these 2 kiddos.

reading notes and finishing homework.
writing my first May blogpost!
listening to the movie Twister. It was on ABC family last night, and I just happened to record it. It is a classic that I love since I wanted to be a meteorologist when I was little.
thinking about beginning the studying/ prep for finals week. I am looking forward to a break from classes. I need to work, and not do anything else.
smelling freshly mowed lawn on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
wishing for great grades on my finals.
hoping for a good week leading up to Mother's Day. I should go shopping for my mom's gift. I don't know what she wants.
wearing yoga pants and my shamrock shuffle volunteer t-shirt. I promise I do dress nicely.
loving the fact that I survived my week. I had three presentations and an exam in anatomy. I got a 92 on it! I am also loving my mood. I am so happy!
wanting to buy sunglasses. I never look good in them.
needing to go sit outside for a while to do my homework and soak up some vitamin D.
feeling great about this week.
clicking on my micro homework due tomorrow. It is definitely going to take me a while.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy the weather!
